I like Floyd's book for digital design. It explains I found it easy to use and would recommend it for anyone wanting to try digital circuit design!. This book covers all topics of computer Organization in a very fun and practical way. It gives the student motivation to deep more into the subject of digital circuits . The world of electronics was initially dominated by analogue signals—that is, signals representing a continuous range of values. In digital circuitry, however.

He has coauthored five books, and has four U.

Twelve doctoral dissertations were defended under his supervision; three of which received outstanding dissertation awards. Grant E. Martin is a distinguished engineer at Cadence Design Systems, Inc.

He rejoined Cadence in when it acquired Tensilica, and has been there since, working in the Tensilica part of the Cadence Intellectual Property Group. Grant has coauthored and coedited several books, including the first-ever book on system-on-chip SoC design published in Russian. He has also presented many papers, talks, and tutorials, and participated in panels at a number of major conferences.

He is also a coeditor of the Springer Embedded Systems series. His particular areas of interest include system-level design, intellectual property-based design of SoC, platform-based design, digital signal processing, baseband and image processing, and embedded software.

Digital Circuit Projects: An Overview of Digital Circuits Through Implementing Integrated Circuits

He is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Louis K.

He worked at Hewlett Packard from to as a chip designer and computer-aided design tool developer. In , he joined Valid Logic Systems, where he did hardware design, developed a schematic editor, and built an integrated circuit layout, routing, and verification system.

The figures are a great help to the student as they show exactly what the circuits will look like and how they should operate. Accuracy rating: 5 Everything is accurate in this book. Each circuit is explained in detail, including the pinout and connections of the parts used.

However, I feel that it is a very valuable learning exercise for students because it gives them an understanding of what is going on underneath the abstracted view of micro-controllers and Field Programmable Gate Arrays. It also provides hands-on experience debugging real circuits, which students don't get when they use modern development boards for digital labs.

So in terms of longevity, I scores this a 4 since this approach isn't really how students build digital circuits anymore.

At the same time I appreciate the value of building some of these simple circuits to help build foundation knowledge before moving to the more complex topics. It is apparent that this was the intent of the author also because the book does not go on for a thousand pages building every digital circuit ever imagined.

It essentially gets to the beginning of a simple cpu and then stops. Clarity Very clear.

The pictures are extremely valuable in making the content clear. Consistency rating: 5 Each new circuit is presented with the same methodical approach. The functionality is presented followed by the synthesis of the logic diagram, then the circuit implementation is shown.

Modularity rating: 4 The book builds on prior material, so I wouldn't call it necessarily modular.Instrumentation Amplifier. So in terms of longevity, I scores this a 4 since this approach isn't really how students build digital circuits anymore.

He has been serving on the technical committees of several international conferences, workshops, and symposia. Digital Systems Design Dr.

A large emphasis of this course note will be on computer-aided schematic capture and simulation. As a book that includes a fair amount of circuitry for the student to build, the author is very good in presenting the appropriate theory involved, explaining how the hardware works and identifying common wiring pitfalls. The material is evenly divided and presented in a uniform manner.

Louis K. The figures are a great help to the student as they show exactly what the circuits will look like and how they should operate.

For a more advanced reader, this may feel tedious, but to a beginner it is excellent to have.
